Is there a template for a personal dictionary or glossary?

I want to create an academic thesis that is in the format of a list of
definitions, with illustrative images and photos. Is there a template that
would simplify this? I'm having trouble with adding images/text
retroactively, since I continually have to reposition the images.

If your illustrations are anchored within the text, they'll just move
with the text as you add entries before them; and you won't need to
worry about positioning until your text is completely finalized and
you do your final layout.

For something like that you might do well to consider using a 1 or 2 column
table - 1 column if the illustrations go beneath the definitions, 2 column
if they're to go next to the definitions. When new content is to be added,
insert additional rows in the table.

I'm not sure what you mean by "...continually have to reposition the
images". Is this by choice or is it that the images shift to a different
location & you have to keep putting them "back where they belong"? A table
will help in either case, but keep in mind that constantly dragging images
or using cut/paste is a splendid recipe for corruption of the document.
