Is there a period to work without activation of WinXP+SP2?

I tried to upgrade my old WinXP by a new licenced version WinXP+SP2. The
installation was normal, but it demands activation at once. I remember that
there was a period when you can work without activation - 3 days or a week.
Is it changed now?

Your best bet is to ask the person who gave this to you. This is common for
Geek Squad employees, etc.

That said, why would you need to update XP with XP-SP2 via a CD? This
update is freely obtainable.
