Is there a national shortage of Athlon 64 FX 55s in the UK or something?

Is there a national shortage of FX 55s in the UK or something? No where
seems to stock them. I've had an order placed with dabs for over a week
now. The expected shipping date for which has just slipped from this Monday
to nearly three weeks away.

I think my last ditch effort is to drive down to PC World, on the off chance
that the Mansfield branch has on in stock. Not much chance of that though.
I might get a new game to cheer me up.

Don't buy from Dabs - I got mine from www.chillblast.com. If there's
anything wrong with it, you won't be able to return it because Dabs has no
telephone contact and their 'eNotes' are just met with autoresponses telling
you to wait 48 working hours for a response. If you send another, you'll
receive the same message.

Cancel Dabs and call Ben Miles (Chillblast) Monday on 0845 456 78 30. They
have them listed on their website (but the stock status isn't displayed
anymore - I've been on Ben's case about that for months - bugger's not done
anything about it though). They're more expensive than Dabs - £617.46 inc
VAT and delivery compared with Dabs £569 but, for that extra £48.46 you're
getting proper customer service and someone on the other end of the phone.
I've dealt with them for years - I've only ever had to return one item - a
faulty PC2100 module - called Ben, told him it was faulty, he sent me a
*pre-paid* Special Delivery Jiffy, I packaged it up, took it to the Post
Office, and I had a refund within 48 hours. That's the difference. No
'eNotes' no one calling you a liar, no sending it back and then someone
claiming it isn't faulty or you broke it, if you simply change your mind,
then you can return an item and Chillblast will *NOT* charge you a
restocking fee (Dabs will).

Ben (or Martin or Tariq) won't lie to you - you'll be told when they expect
to have an item in stock. They'll even email you with updates and, if they
cannot obtain something, will offer you an alternative of equal - or
higher - value. Look at their Romulus 2 rating
(http://www.romulus2.com/feedback/company.php?343) they have an almost
perfect score! Dabs, on the other hand, are ranked 20th and have an overall
score of 3.75 (http://www.romulus2.com/feedback/company.php?17).

Do yourself a favour and buy from the number one! ;o)

PC world suck i went down there wanting an athlon 2500 or maybe a 2400 this
being an XP of course and all tey had in stock was one godamn XP 2200 one!!
nothing else

try microdirect.co.uk they dont have the FX55 in stock but they got the
Athlon 64 4000+

which if im not mistaken is very close to the fx55

i think the fx55 is 2.6ghz and the 4000+ is 2.4 ghz, thats the only
difference, oh and the core is probs different although i dont know mch
about that

erm i said that the fx55 was 2.6 ghz, but when it comes to processors that
good is a difference of 200mhz going to make a much difference? doesnt the
4000 come with a stock cooler?
