Is there a bootlog.txt (or equivalent) in WXP?

I booted up with the F8-bootlog option, and got as a result a
'bootlog.dat' file. I assume that the bootlog.dat file is same as the
old bootlog.txt file under W98.

Anyway, I can't read it with normal programs. Is there a 'bootlog
analyzer' that I can download/use to see the content of the bootlog
file? Of course, I would like a demo/shareware/freeware copy.

Or, as an alternative, is there another way I can 'log' my boot-up and
look at such a 'log'?. You see. the boot-up is hanging up 2-3 minutes
during boot suddenly and I have no idea why.

Help?

Msconfig, Boot.Ini tab, Check Bootlog.
It goes to \windows\Ntbtlog.txt
Hmm think I'll remove that 1394.
No time frame/BootLogAnalysis on this Mickey Mouse stuff.
When things progress to a stage where software is on chips,
things will take less time to screw up.

I found the ntbtlog file and downloaded a program called run reg to
ease analysis of the file. However it does not show the times of each
boot step, which is what I need. How can I get this info?

Thanks

I am not getting very far. I have isolated Ntbtlog.txt and have run a
demo version of so-called run reg. But I only see a log of all the
apps brought up during the boot. But I want the times spent to do so.
I need to see why my boot up is so slow.

I guess I question if Ntbtlog.txt even has such times in it (such as
bootlog.txt used to in W98).

Can anyone help me here?

Thanks

It doesn't.If you have a good enough reason ms will give you bootviz. Email their support. Too many people inappropiatly reccommended it and it was removed from genral download.

Most people who get help talk about their problems not why their solution won't work.

Does WXP's bootlog file even have any times in it? I can't find any!

bootlog file name apparently is c:\windows\ntbtlog.txt

I found bootviz at http://www.timparsons.net/windowsxp.html
I downloaded/installed it.
Now if I could figure out how to use it! I must be dense.

Thanks anyway

It's copyright MS. But while you continue to discuss why your solutions don't work noone can help you.

Copyright makes it "pirate"??? Whatchu been smokin?

Bootvis although unsupported by MS is, and always has been,
"freeware".
It can be downloaded from dozens if not hundreds of legit sights.

Beyond the creation time in the file properties, what times would vary? The events are sequential.
