Is the information correct about XP sp2 that is diccussed on this web site?????

Hi all I need to know if XP sp2 is going to impact stationery as stated on
the forum below. Is there going to be no capabilities for Java script or
vbscript. If that is true there are going to be hundreds of thousands, if
not millions of stationery scripters and makers up in arms. For us to go
back to the dark ages and just use simple stationery is right or fair to us.
We need to know so we either can find a work around or all go back to
Windows 98 SE and Internet Explorer 5.5 which most of us have just incase
this came to pass. Received the following note with the url
Robbie
I just received this and suspect that you all will understand it better than
I do cuz VB script means nothing to me...

Hi Mike,
the article provides no information regarding the 'scripted OE stationery' issue,
see:
Safer E-mail Handling Technologies

This content is not available in this preliminary release.

are we going down to AOL level (=0), regarding e-mail art? We've come a long way and we count the community by the thousands.
To Robbie's question I would add, what about VML scripted animation in OE stationery after SP2, in particular ? Or, what about VML in IE-OE?
It's agreed that security development can't be discussed, but having someone check that and inform us wether this will mean killing off the positive part of OE's dhtml capabilities (and do something about it) is essential for our community. We are genuinely alarmed ..

Wasn't expecting an answer 3 weeks later.....I have read what you posted but
it says nothing about scripting in OE.. I already know what is going on as I
couldn't get an answer from anyone here or from Microsoft themselves. I
know for the time being scripted (VBSscript or Javascript doesn't work with
the ,eml email extension but does with a .nws newsgroup extension. As Pola
has said about VML I know it doesn't work in either email or newsgroups, but
does in IE...I have also heard that both of these will be bugged and fix. I
surely hope so. This is a world wide passion (as the protest WET (week end
theme) of a few weeks showed) and we will not give up easy......Yes I have
tested and still do test the XP Sp2 beta.....I am dual booting with sp1 and
sp2. Yes I know I shouldn't, but when I couldn't get a straight answer from
anyone. I needed to know for myself and many other....We were looking at
major work around or other programs that do what OE does now (yes there are
at least two that does). Please don't patronize us with a white paper that
most of us read many months ago. I fully expect this bug to be fixed before
the XP sp2 goes out to the public and I will be one of the first to know if
it is.....

Better to use something like VMware or VirtualPC for dual use than to simply
dual-boot, which doesn't garantee perfect separation of each O/S instance.

Thank you dsx, So far it seems to be ok...The two OS seem to be seperate for
now.....And with the sp 2 RC-1 scripting is re enabled in email's like
before except for VML. As for VMware or virtual PC I am not sure what they
are....But I have alway know I may end up reformating as I was dealing with
beta software. Also have at least 5 other testers doing it with 2 macnes so
if my become corrupt they can carry on with the testing.
