Is PowerPoint 2002 as good at creating slide shows as proprietary.

I want to create some wonderful slide shows. I am interested in ProShow Gold
which is about $70. My husband suggested that PowerPoint might be just as
good, but neither of us really knows. I have PP 2002. Does anyone really know
whether PP is better than some of the proprietary software? For example, can
you pan or zoom (to simulate movement) in PP 2002? Thank you.

Yes, PPT 2002 has a zoom animation and you can move photos to get a pan
effect. Maybe ProShow Gold has some more of those "fancy, tricky effects". I
don't know, because I could not view the sample file on their website. I
required to install a viewer, which I did not want.

And that is the point, why I would recommend using PowerPoint: Many people
have the program and many of those who do not have it, at least know it and
have the PowerPoint Viewer installed. If you distribute a ProShow Gold file,
most of the people will not have neither the program nor the viewer. It will
be easier to distribute a PowerPoint file to your friends.

If you had to make the decision which program to buy, ProShow might be a
choice, because it is cheaper. And you don't need a high-tech office program
like PowerPoint for private slideshows - but as you own it already ...

Just my 2 (Euro-)cts worth ...

Kind regards,
Ute
