hi there - turns out I bought a Home & Student edition of MS Office which
didn't incude Outlook. Before I pay to download Outlook, is better than
Windows Mail? I can get Windows Mail on my laptop but if it's the same thing
as Outlook is it worth upgrading to Outlook? any thoughts appreciated.
thanks regards

It's not the same thing as Outlook but Mail meets the needs of many users.
The important questions are: Why do you need Outlook? What features do you
need?

Windows mail is a simple mail client - it does just email, not custom forms
and has no programming capabilities. Vista includes a calendar which is very
much like Outlook 2007's. If you just need basic email and calendaring
capabilities, Mail (or the new Live Mail client) and Vista calendar should
meet your needs. I'd certainly try them to see if they are sufficient before
buying outlook.

If you need to sync with a handheld device you may need outlook.
