I was not aware that Outlook had a "native HTTPMail" support facility. Why
would MSFT provide the Outlook Connector if Outlook had native support for
HTTPMail?

Sure it does -- just try adding an account. It was in OL2003 as well. The
Connector offers more functionality, even in the free version, but more yet
in the pay version.

I believe I have found the answer to my own question: OL on its own does not
support DeltaSync; you need the Connector. So OL is affected by the above
announcement as well -- unless you have the Connector.

This one, about WebDAV going away:

Question: Does Outlook's 2007 *native* HTTP (Hotmail) support work via
WebDAV or DeltaSync?

I realize that the Outlook Connector, an add-on product, works with
DeltaSync, like Windows Live Mail.

HTTP accounts are available in Outlook 2007. I doubt there would be a
need for the Outlook Connector plug-in if OL2007 included DeltaSync
support, that is why you have to add it.
