Hello, I have just converted an Access 03 database to Access 07. Now
whenever I try to view a query design that contains more than one table I
get the above message. Also happens when I try to view relationships. The
object names are not too long.
Any ideas? Thanks.

I just got this message today after using Access 07 for a month. Not sure
what has changed because I was able to view my queries in design view for the
last month.

Hopefully we will get a solution soon.

Check the query itself. I had this error message on one query because
I had a stray bracket "[" or "]" in the query. It passed the query
syntax checker when I saved the query, but since the bracket was
unpaired it was reading part of the query as a subquery (thus the
invalid name).

This problem is serious, and I wish Microsoft would acknowledge it. It has
stopped me maintaining my old databases which represent thousands of hours of
work.

Typical problems:

I want to modify the contents of a table in a 7 year old database using data
imported or linked from Excel 2007. When I try to construct the link in
Access 2007, I select the Excel file, click on the sheet name and hit finish.
I get " is not a valid file name

So, trying to work around this problem, I start a new access 2007 database,
use the same steps and successfully import my data into a new table.

I go back the old database, and create a link to the new database, which
works fine.

Then, I create a new query and drag the table I want to change, and the
linked table that contains the changes onto the designer and create a very
simple update query. Run it, and it does what I want it to, then hit save
and .... " is not a valid file name.

PLEASE HELP ME! - and the everyone else that is having this problem.
