Is my dual core CPU using both cores?

I have an AMD Athlon 64 dual core 4200 running in an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe
motherboard using XP Pro SP2. The BIOS recognises it as such but:-
- Windows task manager shows only 1 core
- AMD Power manager shows only 1 core and tells me that support is not
enabled in my BIOS/Operating system
- AMD CPUinfo shows only Core 0 in use

Do I need to do anything to enable dual core support?

The CPU should also appear twice in Device Manager.

You may find this worth a look:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309283/

"HAL options after Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 Setup"

In my XP Home SP2 system, the HAL is listed under "Computer". With an A64 X2
4400+, the processor is listed as "ACPI Multiprocessor PC".

I wonder why the second core was not recognized? I once swapped replaced a
single-core A64 with the 4400+ above, and XP automatically detected the new
CPU and changed the HAL to match. This was on an old Asus A8V Deluxe
mainboard. I have since done a clean install on an A8N-SLI, and the CPU was
recognized from the start.
