Is it safe to install .NET Framework 1.1 SP1

I've been heard issues about it.
Is it a good time to install .NET framework 1.1 SP1? or it worst to wait for
SP1a

Well, at my shop we had to uninstall it and tell our customers not to do
it... It killed our custom dataprovider dead because the XmlTextReader
constructor blocks when passed a NetworkStream.
