Is it possible to replay a slide from CD?

I've tried this question before -- a few times actually; but thus far, no one
has ventured a guess on an answer. Normally, I'd drop it, but this is
relatively important to a project that I'm developing. Before restating the
situation, THANK YOU for ALL replies.
I created a PowerPoint 2003 presentation for a client. It contains a
narrative, music and custom animation. Using information gained from a
response by Sonia Coleman to an earlier post (circa 12/2004), I was able to
get slides to replay by adding a blank slide before each of them with a 0
slide transition time. Thanks to Sonia!

However, when I packaged the presentation to CD, the replay doesn't work.
The blank slide preceding the slide that I want to replay comes up, but it
simply remains on the screen.

So, I proceeded with the following test. First, I played the presentation
file from the CD directly. The slides replayed perfectly. Then, I invoked
pptviewer to begin the presentation, and here is where the replay hung up on
the blank slide -- no transition, nada!

Is this a limitation when using the PowerPoint viewer, or does anyone have
any ideas of something else that might cause this "problem."

Just to clarify:
What viewer are you using (97 or 2003)?
How do you go back to a previous slide?
What, if any, slide transitions are you using?

The viewer is 2003.
I use a button that hyperlinks to the blank slide before the slide with
content.
The slide transition on the blanks slide is 0 seconds.
This works fine when working from the presentation file directly. It's only
when I invoke it through the viewer that it hangs.

By the way, thank you very much for responding to my query. I'm guessing
that the problem may be with some limitation in the viewer, but I really
don't know that.
