Is it possible to modify and save an attachment without downloadin

I've heard that some people have been able to do the following:

1) Receive an attached document in Outlook
2) Modify the attachment
3) Save the changes in the attachment (*without physically saving the file
to disk)
4) Email the modified document/attachment to someone else

I know I've never been able to do this, but I think it would be a great
thing to know, as there are a number of people at my work that would like the
ability to look at something and attach some feedback, without having to save
the file somewhere and delete it later.

As always, thanks to anyone and everyone who can help me out!

Open the attachment from an opened message instead of directly from the
Reading Pane. Leave the message open while editing the document. Save
changes and forward/reply the message.

Note that the document will be saved to a temp folder on the disk and that
if you do it wrongly you might loose valuable edit time and information. I
usually recommend against using this method unless you are a die-hard user
of this feature and are completely familiar with the dangers and limitations
of it. Test it for an afternoon with various documents and your various
methods of working to get the hang of it so you don't end up sending
unedited documents instead ;-)

For more info about the temp folder and how to access it see
