Is it possible to minimise MS outlook to the system tray?

I am running WinXP, Office Outlook 2000 v.9.0, I want to know if the
following is correct.

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Preferences

Right click in the Right pane and select New, DWord value. Name it
MinToTray. Double click the new value you just created and set it to 1.

If you're not running Office XP, then you'll need to adjust the Registry key
above to reflect your version of Office (8 or 9).

Have you tried it? Doug is rarely (if ever) wrong about these things.

Yes, I followed his direction to the point that it says something about the
registry. I don't have "\10.0\", I have 8.0 or 9.0. I have followed the
instructions up to the "1" value, on 9.0 - nothing happens. but good news I
didn't screw anything up either.

I use the free "TrayIt!" a simple utility that can minimise programs
to the system tray. http://www.teamcti.com/trayit/trayit.htm .

I'm not familiar with this particular edit, but if Doug says it, I believe
him. He is among the most reliable of all sources.
 
Hi Christi,

I'm running Outlook v9, tried the edit, and got the same results you did (no effect). Checking with
RegMon shows that the value is never read, so it looks like it's only valid for later versions.
