I'm using outlook '07. The "precise steps i used in detail" are the ones
in
my first post, which are the same ones you posted a few weeks ago:
"File > Import and Export > Import Internet Mail and Addresses
Select the option that includes "Windows Mail"
Uncheck "Import Mail" if you do not want messages and leave only "Import
Address
Book" checked. Since Windows Contacts is the "address book" for Windows
Mail, that is what you'll get. "
I know that all of the contacts inside vista's "windows contacts" folder
are
valid because I checked them. It lets me drag and drop a few individually
into outlook (again, outlook 2007) but not import the whole lot of about
300.
I also have them in a .csv file backed up from my old phone which outlook
won't import correctly. Importing comma separated values causes me to end
up
with a bunch of empty contacts. Can you actually see the conversation
that I
am replying to? that is pretty crucial to establishing context...

Not really. You provided none of the information we would need. State
where
your Contacts now reside. If you think a virus "deleted your Outlook
Contacts" how do you know you have valid Contacts elsewhere? State your
Outlook version. State the precise steps you used in detail and what
happened.

I am also trying to do this in vista home premium after what i think was
a
trojan deleted all of my outlook contacts. I have gone through these
steps
twice, and after about seven minutes of "creating addresses" it
displays a
window saying that "0 of 296 contacts imported". Any ideas?

Then the option does in fact appear in in your Import Wizard:
File > Import and Export > Import Internet Mail and Addresses
Select the option that includes "Windows Mail"
Uncheck "Import Mail" if you do not want messages and leave only
"Import
Address
Book" checked. Since Windows Contacts is the "address book" for
Windows
Mail, that is what you'll get.
