Is it possible to import information from Windows Contacts to Outl

R

I want to transfer the listings in my Windows Contacts to Outlook Contacts,
but the instructions for import/export don't seem to address that task. Can
it be done; if so, how?

So we are to assume you are using Vista? What Outlook version shall we
assume you are using?

Then the option does in fact appear in in your Import Wizard:
File > Import and Export > Import Internet Mail and Addresses
Select the option that includes "Windows Mail"
Uncheck "Import Mail" if you do not want messages and leave only "Import
Address
Book" checked. Since Windows Contacts is the "address book" for Windows
Mail, that is what you'll get.

Yes, I am using Vista Home Premium.

Why are you changing hte subject every time you post? Please don't do that.
It's hard to track a thread when the subject keeps changing.

I am also trying to do this in vista home premium after what i think was a
trojan deleted all of my outlook contacts. I have gone through these steps
twice, and after about seven minutes of "creating addresses" it displays a
window saying that "0 of 296 contacts imported". Any ideas?

Sorry, Outlook version originally 2003, upgraded to 2007.

Not really. You provided none of the information we would need. State where
your Contacts now reside. If you think a virus "deleted your Outlook
Contacts" how do you know you have valid Contacts elsewhere? State your
Outlook version. State the precise steps you used in detail and what
happened.

I'm using outlook '07. The "precise steps i used in detail" are the ones in
my first post, which are the same ones you posted a few weeks ago:
"File > Import and Export > Import Internet Mail and Addresses

I know that all of the contacts inside vista's "windows contacts" folder are
valid because I checked them. It lets me drag and drop a few individually
into outlook (again, outlook 2007) but not import the whole lot of about 300.
I also have them in a .csv file backed up from my old phone which outlook
won't import correctly. Importing comma separated values causes me to end up
with a bunch of empty contacts. Can you actually see the conversation that I
am replying to? that is pretty crucial to establishing context...

Of course I can see the conversation. I'm just very slow and deeply
confused. You contend that a "Trojan" wiped out your Outlook Contacts. And
yet you contend that your Windows Contacts are identical, perfectly intact,
and should be capable of restoring your Outlook Contacts via an import. That
would be uniquely unusual so I'm having trouble imagining how that could be
the case and wondering if there is more to your story. That would be "pretty
crucial to establishing context..."
