We have a user who has creater a personal folder in Outlook 2007 which he
wants to either password protect the folder or hide it from view so that
other users who have access to his e-mails cannot access / see the folder.

Does anyone know whether this is possible?

Many thanks for your responses.

You can password protect the Personal Folder file - go to Data File
Management, Settings, Change Password.
You can also Close the personal folder when not in use - right click
Personal Folders in the Folder List and press Close.

An entire personal folders (PST) file can be password protected, but once
s/he starts Outlook with said PST, the contents are available to anyone who
has access to the machine. Best bet at this point is to activate the screen
saver and require a password to unlock it if the user walks away from
workstation.

The most secure system is locking the workstation and creating user accounts
if others need to "borrow" his workstation. If no one uses the computer and
he's worried about people with access to his exchange email account, a pst
stored on my computer will work, as its only accessible locally. As added
protection, it can be passworded so that no one can open it - but once
opened in his profile, it will be visible to everyone unless he locks the
workstation and doesn't allow people to 'borrow' his windows account. .

Provide the password when prompted. To remove the password completely set a
new password but leave the field for the new password blank.
