Is it possible to have a C: partition with NTFS, and a second primary FAT32 D: partition with MsDos?

Dear friends:

Is it possible to have a "C:" partition with NTFS and a second primary
FAT32 "D:" partition with MsDos, both in the same drive?

The idea is to have two primary partitions, the first formatted with
NTFS and Win2k installed on it, and the second partition, also a
primary one, but formatted with FAT32, with a working MsDos installed
on it.

The idea is that Win2k will see both partitions as C; and D:, but
MsDos will not see the first one, so the second one will be C: for it.

How should I have the BOOT.INI file, on the first partition, in order
to be able to boot to Win2k or to MsDos?

Any hint?

Thanks David, but there is a previous question:

Which are the restrictions to install MsDos?

It needs to be installed in the first primary partition of the hard
drive?

Or it can be installed in the first primary partition that MsDos can
see it?

You can look at this:

If your C drive is NTFS you will need a 3rd party boot manager.

That depends on how large your first primary partition is. The
reason is even though DOS will not be able to "see" the NTFS
partition, and should "see" the second primary partition as drive
"c", it won't work because DOS can not boot beyond the
2 gb barrier on the hard drive. Assuming of course your first
primary partition is 2 gb or larger.

You need a boot manager. Not just any kind, but one that can overcome
the DOS barrier. You can try BootIt Next Generation from
Terabyteunlimited. It's shareware, $35 try before you buy, fits on a
single floppy and does much more. Go to:

www.terabyteunlimited.com to download or to read the PDF manual.

This is a Windows XP group, not a Win 2K one, but both systems can work
with any mix of NTFS and FAT partitions. You will need an external boot
manager to boot the two systems (unless you are prepared to switch the
active partition from a DOS floppy and its FDISK every time).
