I'm not a fan of flash and I tried to block flash in Firefox and OE in
windows OS.
In Firefox I got that (F) and with OE I get normally a message that I have
to install flash or update my unknown version.
I thought I was flash free, but that seems not the case.
A few weeks ago I removed all *.sols and what could be flash related, but
yesterday I looked again and I was very unhappy to see a lot of *.sols
again.
Is there a utility or program or a website or ???? with info or help how to
get rid of flash.
I know I couldn't see a growing number of websites.
Thanks for any help.

flash is free, and has nothing to do with sols, whatever that is.

Can you explain what sols are? little suns? Or something I must look at my
shoe for?

You are not a fan of moving images and animation (flash)?
Perhaps you should ban still images, music and text too.

Starring at a blank page can be fun if you use your imagination.

Having said that, you can install www.avantbrowser.com that has
an option to disable flash temporarily by going to
Tools>Disable flash animations.

There are still people like myself, who have dial-up and just want what
every info is at the site and not have to wait 10-15 minutes for some
intro to download. Back before everyone got broad band many sites had a
intro page where you had a choice of Flash or No Flash.

Take a look at Proxomitron
http://www.proxomitron.info/

Install adblock and filterset.g for firefox. This should then block
about 99% of most flash things (as most flash is normally adds) and if
you have the correct setting in adblock it apparently will not down load
the flash stuff.

correct, but I'm not sure if it blocks also this flash cookie thing.
Proxomitron is great, but sometimes I have to bypass Proxomitron to see a
page.
I need a standalone utility to control the flash settings.

Sometimes, Flash is a problem, even when you have broadband.

Lynx would certainly do it, very fast browser too. Bit too basic for
most of us tho.
