Is It Legal??

Hi , i got the following question.... as a lot of people trying to use
MsComm may know at this point, if u try to distribute your application with
the mscomm control u will get a nasty error saying licensing for the control
not found...
People recommends to install the VB 6 ActiveX controls that installs the
licensing for the control on the registry.... BUT I CAN'T INSTALL VB6 ON
EVERY CLIENT MACHINE......
I found the registry key that is used for the MsComm , and that needs to be
installed to use the MsComm control on a client machine, is it legal that
add that key to the registry of a client machine?? i got both licenses for
VB6 and for .Net

Ale K,
This is a public newsgroup with lots of not Microsoft employes participating
in it.
Those cann't give you an answer, but when you do a search in this newsgroup
maybe you find your answer.
I thought you are not the first one who asks this.
(Mostly there while be an answer from a Microsoft employe on this kind of
questions, but that takes sometimes longer than the other answers)

Hi,

I suggest that you use NETComm.ocx from my homepage. It is free, and avoids
any licensing issues.

However, as long as Visual Studio 6 is installed on you development system,
you should be able to use MSComm (and distribute it), with your .NET
applications. At least, I haven't had any trouble.
