Is it a waste? XP Home , that is...help required, please!!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I find Windows XP, Home upgrade
especially, the worst piece of tripe I've ever had to deal with.

I have never seen a more fickle, unstable OS ever. I can't play through a
simple game of friggin Diablo II without some blue screen of death popping
up. First it was the freaking mouse!! Then sound(SoundBlaster) so, I opted
to remove all semblances of the SB card and drivers and go with the onboard
sound (AC97, Realtek). The board is a FIC AU13 carrying a AMD XP3200 with
512mb PC3200 RAM. The board, processor, memory, and hard drive are all new.
There are no additional cards on it except the video card (NVIDIA gForce
5200 w/128mb). So the errors continue. I've had 0x0000000A, 0x000000D1,
0x00000023, and 0x0000007E. WTF???!!

Considering that there's virtually nothing to conflict, why all the trouble?

Can anyone bring me back to Microsoft? I have installed SP1, and have the
SP2 disk, but am VERY cautious about wanting to install that.

Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks for letting me vest and for the help in advance!!

Gerry;
Power off and open case.
Reseat all cards and cables.
If you have multiple memory sticks remove/swap making sure to stay
above Windows XP 64MB minimum.

Get the latest Windows XP drivers from the hardware manufacturer.
