Hi,
I have been getting about 15 or 20 spam messages every day for a number of
weeks. I knew something was calling
for them from the internet but did not know what. I also noticed that my
isp`s incoming mail address in Outlook had
changed to 127.0.0.1. I asked Google about this and was informed it was
malware. After manually reconfiging outlook,

scanning with McAfee 2007 the reconfiguring held and the spam stopped. Now
though I cant get outlook to recieve mail,
and every few seconds my cursor changes to an hour-glass, like some process
is running but timing out. When I do Cntrl-Alt-Del
I see an awfull lot of processes running and they are changing all the time
like they are being repeatidly loaded and unloaded.
Anyone got any idea what might be the problem or better still.....the
solution.

Hi

Try searching for any spyware you may have on your system with the following
programs:

Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip
Spy Sweeper - www.webroot.com
Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com

Try SpyWareBlaster to stop intrusions:

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Also see the following links:

http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Also run a virus-check on your system with the latest definitions for your
anti virus program.

Regarding processes, you should look at these two sites:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/

http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm

Regarding your e-mail situation, have a look at:

http://help.lockergnome.com/windows2/127-ftopict482533.html

Is it possible that McAfee is responsible for the 127.0.0.1? That should
actually be expected if you decide to enable e-mail scanning.

Regarding non-viral malware, at a minimum you should run AdAware and
Spybot Search and Destroy:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

If you still have problems, HijackThis is quite helpful:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum22.html

HTH.
