IRQ sharing with USB & Firewire controller

Does it matter if on Windows XP SP2 on an APIC system for your video
card (9600XT in my case) to share an IRQ with the USB Universal Host
controller and the IEEE 1394 Host controller?

My 9600XT is on IRQ 16 and so are two USB Host controllers and an
IEEE1394 controller.

My Audigy is on IRQ 19 also shared with another USB Host controller.

Could this cause any problems? I am noticing in Far Cry and Doom 3
(demo) that the system pauses/jerks (without loosing sound though - like
its dropping frames), when new sounds start or doors open etc.

System specs:
Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz (1MB cache, 800FSB) with HT (Prescott)

True. But if you can you should turn off USB ports and Firewire ports that
you don't use in the bios for your mobo.

On my system I have a modem that I seldom use that uses the same IRQ as my
9800 pro. I disable it in device manager until I need it to fax something.
Since I have a firewire connection on my Audigy that I use, I have disabled
the firewire ports on my mobo. Why enable resources that you don't use.

watch if your HD loads exactly at this time - if yes, get 2x512MB and the
problem goes away!

you have 512mb of RAM and Far Cry uses at least 450mb on its own
plus the OS which uses at least 130mb - what your getting is pauses caused
by hard drive access as virtual memory is used etc ... upping to 1 gig of
RAM
is the norm for a gamer these days.
