IRPStackSize

Solomon

Hi All
I am having a problem with the IRPStackSize. I
have tried setting the IRPStackSize to 11, 15, 20, 25, 33
and I still receive the following message:
"The value named IRPStackSize in the server's Registry
key LanmanServer\Parameters was invalid. The value was
ignored, and processing continued."

Part 2
The reason I am changing the IRPStackSize is
because I get the following message when users try to
connect:
"Not enough server storage space is available to process
this command"
When I look in the log I notice that around the
same time users are getting "Not enough server storage
space is available to process this command" the system
log is showing:
"The server was unable to allocate from the system paged
pool because the pool was empty."

I have tried the following but can not get the
PagedPoolSize value to be a -1:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/q
312/3/62.asp&NoWebContent=1

Spec of server:
Server 2000 SP4
File server
NAV 8.0

Any help would be great,
-Solomon

Solomon,

The paged pool being empty is probably not related to the IRPStackSize.

An empty paged pool is essentially an out-of-memory condition. You need to
determine what is causing the system to allocate too much from the system
paged pool. It's likely that a driver on the system is causing this. When
did the problems start? Did you install or upgrade any drivers before
problems started?

The "empty paged pool" problem started back on
8/5/2003 and all that has changed is MS security
patches.
What's strange is when I login and check, memory use
is higher that normal but the page file is not full and
there is still a fair amount of physical memory left.
