Here is the deal. I want to force my system to change the
ip address. My ISP says i should type in the renew
command and when i do a ipconfig/renew at dos prompt
nothing changes. My ISP says it should change and now i
dont know what to do anyone got any suggestions ?

is tcp/ip set to obtain an ip address automatically? It

has to be for the ipconfig /renew to work.

Try releasing it first "ipconfig /release". Still your ISP may assign the
same one back.
