ipconfig command just flashes

XP SP2 - trying to use the ipconfig command - the screen just flashes and
then disappears before I can read it.
Fix?
 
Have you opened up a command prompt first before putting in the command?

start>run type in "cmd" (no quotes) ..a DOS box should come up ..type
ipconfig again
