What does this mean & how do iI correct it? "There is an IP address conflict
with another system on the network"
Three machines are networked with one acting as a server. All 3 computers
use XP professional.

It means what it says - more than one computer is using the same IP address.
Three machines are networked with one acting as a server. All 3
computers use XP professional.

You need to make sure they're all unique - check the TCP/IP configuration on
all of them. If you use DHCP, mention this - and what it's running on.

It means that two or more computers are using the same address. This event
prevents the network from starting.
You correct it by finding the errant computers and changing their IP
addresses.

Is that a DNS server, a DHCP server, or what? If you are trying to hardcode
the IP addresses via the hosts file, there is where your problem lies.

try going in to network connections and choosing you network adapeter then
selecting cheange stting of this connection in the network tasks menue. this
will bring up a box and in the general tab it will give you a list of thisngs
installed on your network click on the internet protocol (tcp/ip) and click
properties. in there just change the ip addresses first 3 numbers slighly
untill you find on that works
