In XP the windows explorer had a Invert Selction menu item. How is this task
done in Vista?

If you hit alt, to bring up the menu, then go to edit and invert selection
like in XP.
You can also permanently enable the menu, by pressing alt, going to tools,
folder options, view, and selecting always show menus.

Now I don't remember how I turned on classic menus in Windows Explorer but
once you figure that one out, the Invert Selection is right where it used to
be in the Edit menu.
