I use Belarc Advisor less now, since I know you can find most of the things
Belarc Advisor finds in System Information (msinfo32) Systeminfo.exe,
Qfecheck.exe and the registry.
Look around in System Information a little to see what I mean...
Start | run | Type: msinfo32 | Click OK |
You can copy anything in the right hand pane by highlighting an item or all
the items (Ctrl + A) and hitting Ctrl + C to copy. Then paste into Notepad,
Wordpad, Word or whatever
You can also use the File | Export.
To export system data to a text file
1. On the File menu, click Export.
2. In Save in, click a file location.
3. In File name, type the file name.
4. Click Save.
To print system data
1. On the File menu, click Print.
2. In Print range, specify the system data that you want to print:
* Click All to print all of the system data.
* Click Selection to print the currently selected category and all its
subcategories.
* Click Pages, and then specify the page numbers in from and to, to print a
range of pages of the system data.

Microsoft Hotfixes.
SYSTEMINFO in a command prompt will also list Hotfixes. Not available with
XP Home, only Pro.
SYSTEMINFO
Displays detailed configuration information about a computer and its
operating system, including operating system configuration, security
information and product ID, and hardware properties, such as RAM, disk
space, and network cards.

I think Belarc uses Qfecheck.exe. Once you have Qfecheck.exe, you just run
Qfecheck from a command prompt.
Qfecheck will show if all updates have been installed properly or not.
Among other things....[[This tool helps customers who thought they had
properly installed an update, but had not, and are now experiencing a

Let me know if I left out anything on how to do what Belarc Advisor does
without Belarc Advisor.
