Invalid Pointer & Import Problems

Let me start by saying, I've been using this program for a year without one
single problem.

I went to import a clip from my DV cam last night and got an error message
that it could not import my clip due to an "unspecified error." I then tried
to import an old clip from the hard drive. Same error.

Then I tried to open an old saved movie/project. It gave me an error
message that said "Invalid pointer."

It will not let me put anything on the timeline.

I have tried restoring my computer to the day before the last time I
successfully used the program. No luck.

All of updates are updated. (That sounds dumb, but you know what I mean.)

I read of at least one other person on this forum with the same problem, but
it appears he had no resolution. I will try reinstalling SP2, b/c it has
been suggested for other people's problems, but this didn't work for the
other guy (Matthias) who posted before on this problem.

Please, help me, smart people. Please.

Well the program definitely sounds like it is broken.
If uninstalling and reinstalling SP2 doesn't do the trick then it could be a
bad codec or missing files.
