The problem that I am having has been identified in the
Knowledge Base Article 308402. My laptop will not finish
booting up so I am attempting to repair XP Professional.
When I enter the correct Admin Password in the Recovery
Console, I am getting an invalid password response. Your
comments / recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a Dell, Gateway, or other major brand PC, the administrator
password might be the one they used to install XP, not the password of the
first user (i.e., yourself). That is, what is required is the password for
a specific administrator, the one who installed XP, not a random
administrator. Contact their support group for further information.

The recovery console is looking for the default (hidden)
administrator account password. It is probably a blank
(null) entry on most computers, just TAB over the field and
hit enter.
