Invalid MS-DOS Function

Jeff Babbitt

I tried to copy an .avi file from a CD-R that I had blown
on a different computer to my hard drive and got
a 'Invalid MS-DOS Function'. A different, external, CD
drive on the same computer was able to copy the file to
the hard drive. The disk is new and I do not think it is
scratched or bad. I searched the web. There are a few
occurrances of this problem and they usually blame it on a
scrathed CD. There are two common attributes of all of the
complaints from my web search, video files (either avi,
vcd or mpg) and Windows XP. Any ideas as to what could
cause this?
