invalid domain name/packet rejected ID 5504

Matthew

I have received numerous errors in the DNS eventlog. It
appears that my DNS Server is rejected a lot of packets
from the Root Servers. I had configured the Server
(Windows 2000 SP3) to be Bind Secondaries, Enable Round
Robin, Secure Against Cache Pollution, My name checking is
set to Multibyte UTF8 and I'm loading my zone files from
File. I have not modified my root hints.

Event ID 5504 The DNS server encountered an invalid domain
name in a packet from 192.36.148.17. The packet is
rejected.

Has anyone experienced this before.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,

Matthew

5504 errors indicate an invalid character in the name. The major culprit is
an underscore. You'll have to find the suspecting client with this
character.

Take a look here for more info.
