Invalid boot file ini

Tried to download a windows update, got an errror message telling me it could
not go any further; the next day my pc could not boot up I tried all the
windows troubleshooting tools to no avail.
I even tried paid support by gateway, at the end I was told it could be a
corrupted restore cd which I tried to use, the pc seems to recognize the cd
but will not go beyond verifying system information it stops right there, any
insight please I have oredered another restore cd.

You need to tell us what you mean with "I tried all the windows
troubleshooting tools" so that we don't suggest tools that you have
already tried.
