Intersite replication

We have a dozen sites in our AD forest. No problems there.
Two of our sites, however, are connected across the city
by a very high speed link (Gigabit) and the 15 minute
minimum intersite replication interval is too long. We'd
like to keep these two locations as separate sites in
order to:

1. ensure that clients are using Domain Controllers local
to them, not the ones across town.
2. ensure that clients are using Global Catalog servers
local to them, not the ones across town.
3. compress replication traffic across town.
4. keep things clean and simple in the event of a WAN
failure

Is there any way I can reduce the intersite replication
interval for these two sites?

Yes enable change notification on the site link. The traffic will still be forced through the bridgeheads but will not
be subject to the replication schedule. Note that the compression will become poor as it gets more and more efficient
as the amount of data being compressed is increased. If you are sending over single changes, compression can't do a lot
with it.
