Hi, I have been having a simular problem, it started when my power cord was
bumped a few times, then the date/time always went back to 1.1.2000 everytime
I started my computor, tryed unregistering and registering, didn't work,
tryed everything posted on this page. If the date/time is damaged by power
failers, what can I do to fix it.

Hi, after not finding any help on this issue, and I had the exact same one,
Google found a cached copy of an old post on
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general. Worked perfectly for me.

Try unregistering and re-registering the Time service; this may well do
the trick.

1. Start->Run cmd.exe
2. net stop w32time
3. w32tm.exe /unregister
4. w32tm.exe /register
5. net start w32time

(note spellings w32tm and w32time in different commands)

Replace the CMOS battery. It's the one about the size of a quarter, on
the motherboard.
