internet stops after VPN connects

Please Help

As a client using VPN to connect to work, after it
connects I lose internet browsing. I also can't ping or
us any other internet function. The VPN stays connected
fine.

Likely the VPN changes your default gateway to your work's gateway. In the
VPN config there may be a setting to use/not use remote gateway. Before you
change this you should check with your work sys admin. This change may open
your work network to the Internet.
 
Go in your connection properties, in TCP/IP properties, click on advance.
If you desable the option use default gateway, it should work.
 
My understanding is that internet browsing on the remote computer stops while
connected via VPN pass thru to the Host. You can get browsing using the
host's browser.
