Internet slow down my system

when i've installed XP on my Pc, Pentium II 366 MHZ, it
worked great, very fast it worked, when i installed the
internet there has been troubles and it slow down my
system, i know it most be like that, it also slowed down
my Win 98 system, but on Xp it slow it down terrible, how
can i fix it? discrease the slow down?????

Post how much ram and free hard space you have. May help in the
diagnosis.

How much memory do you have?

Start by downloading Adaware and / or update Reference file from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
and use it to remove parasites.

How good is your housekeeping?

1. In Outlook Express empty your Deleted Items folder.

2. In Outlook Express run File, Folder, Compact All whilst OFFLINE.

3. Run Disk Cleanup. Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup.

4. Remove Cookies. Start, Control Panel, Internet Options,General, Delete Cookies.

5 . Run Disk Defragmenter.

Check whether you could reduce the number of days the History of sites visited is retained. Start, Control Panel, Internet Options,General, History.

Check your setting for the Indexing Service. Start, Administrative Tools, Services, Indexing Service. The default setting is Manual. Check that it is not running. More information here:
