Hi

I have a home PC XP Pro SP2, connecting to net via external Modem; using
ZoneAlarm as firewall on this. I am connecting my company laptop
(SPProSP2 as well) via alternative network setup / crossed network cable
to share files and SQL Server databases, which works fine - the company
laptop uses the built in microsoft firewall.

I have set up internet connection sharing on the home PC, yet can not
access the internet on the company laptop. It this possible at all or do
I need a router? If a router is necessary, is there a router that
supports dialup? (I have been waiting for broadband for 7 years now but
out in the irish country side it is still not an option).

thanks in advance
Axel

Hi Robert,

You suggest I set up a VPN host on the home machine, allowing the work
laptop (from Domain Account) to use this?

I don't understand the part "can you ping it from the internet"? Please
elaborate (bear in mind at home I only have the one connection via
modem, but I guess I could ask a colleague to ping me from work if
that's what you mean.

tia
