If I create a direct cable connection to my other
computer here at home, can both computers "surf" the web
at the same time? Mainly can my husband look at one
website while I am at another website? Please help us
figure this out! None of my books address this
situation. Thank you, Michelle

You can connect between two computers and both surf the net at the same time.
I do it with my desktop and laptop, but connected by a special LAN cable. I'm
sure if you explain the requirement to your local computer supplier they will
supply the right cable.

Once connected you just go to the network connection wizard at each end and
let it do the rest. The problems seem to arise with SP2 where the firewall
intervenes so you have to set all sorts of permissions to allow send and
receive in Outlook Express; file and printer sharing etc.

I hope this helps,

Merrick

The short answer is yes, you can share an Internet connection. What you
need, how to configure that sharing, and whether a direct connection (using
a cross over Ethernet cable) is a good way to go depends on how you connect
to the Internet? Dial up? Broadband?

Hi
May be this can Help.
The content of the following links will provide you with a tutorial about
the issue. It is short and to the point.

The page above was written by me ages ago. You might ignore the prices and
Brand recommendations. The principles however are still the same.
