internet options mishap

Hi,

I've been attempting to change my homepage. The 'help'
instructions tell me to open the 'internet options' dialog
box under the 'Tools' menu and then click on the 'General
tab'. This would be great - if there was a 'General' tab
to click on!

When I open 'internet options' I get the following (and
only the following) tabs to choose from:

Security, Privacy, Content, Connections and Advanced.

Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly
appreciated.

thanks,
Mark

This may be a dumb question, but the window normally opens
to the General tab with "Home Page" (which allows you to
change the home page), "Temporary Internet Files"
and "History" as the three options on the General Tab.
Are you not opening to this screen? If not, what displays
when you click on "Internet Options"?

There could be more than one "GeneralTab" value.
Try these keys first and then search for GeneralTab (no space)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Control Panel

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Control Panel

Remove "GeneralTab" if present.

Hi Alan and Paul,

thanks for the responses. Alan, I'm not sure exactly what
you just had me do, but it totally worked. I now have the
general tab in the 'internet options' menu and, as a nice
little side bonus, it seems to have increased the speed at
which Explorer functions!

Thanks for the help,
Mark
