Internet Options - General Tab

R

rossheyder

Using IE5.5 the shortcut on desktop had, under properties,
6 tabs, General, Security, Content, Connections, Programs,
Advanced. After browsing the web recently the General and
Privacy tabs disappeared and the Heading changed to
Internet Properties.
Today I downloaded IE6 Service Pack 1 but Internet
Properties still does not have the General tab which
allows home page set up, delete temp internet files, clear
history folder and changes fonts and colors etc.

How do I retore the genral tab. I am not very technical.

Thanks

Restore Missing tabs. Download a fix from:
http://mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_reset_restrictions.reg

Also, refer Fix 268 from Kelly's site: [For Windows XP]
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Restore All tabs in IE and Removes the ** Internet Options ** Restrictions
as well

Download Ad-Aware from www.lavasoftusa.com, scan the system and eliminate
the malware products. Re-apply the above fix if necessary. ** Update the
pattern file using WebUpdate in Ad-Aware **

( Caused by a malware called CoolWebSearch. Also, Download:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip )
