Everytime I go onto a website that doesn't work, I don't get the traditional

"Page not found" screen. I am now sent to some ad/like website with a search
engine and it would say on the top my page was not found.

How can I get rid of this?!

Ad Aware didn't work. Spybot didn't work. AVG Virus scanner didn't work.
Could I try reinstalling internet explorer (is it possible?)

Vincent

I had the same problem and I used ad- aware and the problem didn't go away,
what I did was I kept running ad aware (6) times until it found the file
that was "hijacking" and redirecting me. Keep trying Ad Aware, it will find
it eventually.

Check the "Hosts" file and see if they are on there.

goto windows > system32 > drivers > etc

some ad/popup blockers use it and some speed up programs
do to. just delete ant entries and re-save the file, it's
opens with Note pad.

I think you've fallen foul of the latest NAFF trick by Verisign (iirc?),
who have provided '*.com' type DNS entries to catch all invalid domains.
My ISP has fixed their DNS servers to not fall foul of this -sounds
like your ISP needs to do something similar.

If you visit www.doxdesk.com/parasite it will list the parasites on
your system and tell you how to get rid of them. The whole process
takes a few minutes.

Good luck.
