Internet Explorer

Since downloading some recent updates from Microsoft I am having problems
with the the address window.

When I click to look at and use recent websites (even from my ISP's
homepage) I have used; the egg timer comes on and seems to freeze or hang.
To clear this I have right clicked and closed starting an error report. Once
I send this I have followed some of Microsofts suggestions i.e. disabled add
ons, scanned for virus and spyware etc, etc but to no avail.

Can anybody help?

Paul, I have had exactly the same problem. If I hit the window at the top of
IE (lists last sites visited) then IE hangs. If I type in www.(anything) then
IE used to list the sites in the cache (www.m would show www.microsoft for
example) not now.
I also have problem now with the Search facility. If you go to advanced
search and go to browse. Hit the '+' button to expand the My Documents
contents and it hangs there too. One or two other programs now hang where
they didnt before.

Anyone else got any clues I wonder?

Hello, I am also having this very same problem. It just started after my
last update (today) from Microsoft. Looks like there may be a prblem in
their newest "fixes". I have run my spyware, adware and the system is clean.
Does anyone know how we go about notifying the folks at MSN to get this
resolve.d Thanks!

Same problem here. Will go to favorites, previous sites, but typed addresses
will not work at all. It seems to be going there, but does not.

Hmm I am novice and really would hate to mess around with registry.
Strangely, the problem seems to have resolved itself. I'm using HP PhotoSmart
& Share to Web software which is highlighted in the link below. Think I'll
sit on it for a day or three and hope a better fix is integrated in next
updates from MSFT.

I'll think about disabling auto updates if this is the quality they
deliver.....

Really dont want to mess with registry. hopefully MSFT will get a better fix
soon. May consider disabling auto updates if this is the quality of the
deliverable. I'm using HP Photosmart & Share to web - this is highlighted in
the link below..
My problem seems to have improved, somehow. So I'll sit on it for a day or
three and see how it goes. Anyother advice welcome.

For those who don't wish to edit the registry, there are two options available.
Ottmar Freudenberger has made a patch available at:-
http://patch-info.de/WinXP/Downloads/KB908531_Share-To-Web.zip
(Note this is a Zip file and will need to be extracted. It contains a REG
file
which needs to be imported into the registry)
or
Kelly has made a patch available at:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line #383 - this is a vbs file and instructions on how to use such files are
at the top of the page.

Before using anything, always do a system restore just in case.
Many users have had a great deal of success with using either of the above
patches.
