We have 300 NT4 clients, where we need to deploy IE6 via the login scripts.
However I am not sure if this is possible? Can anybody advise?

Thanks

Deploying IE6 via a logon script? I would definitely not recommend doing
it that way. The only way this will work is if all your end users are
members of the local Administrators groups on the machines. Also, after
IE6 is done installing, a reboot is required. You'd need to make your
users aware that after they log on, they won't be able to do any work
until after IE6 is done installing (a slow process) and a reboot happens.

A much better solution is to schedule an unattended installation to
happen at odd hours, and make sure that your users know to leave their
systems turned on so the upgrade can proceed.

After IE 5.5 and with the IEAK, URD and "flat" media, the clients can
install IE without administrator privileges. But I agree with you that
the logon installation will be disruptive and costly. Simple math:

300 clients x 1 hr each (?) x $50/hr (?) = $15,000.

I would think that to be a conservative estimate (unless this is a call
centre somewhere where people are paid $4.00/day, and then maybe $15,000
for a big outfit is like $1.50 to me!). It doesn't take into
considerations how many machines might get hiccups and how many might
reboot to blank desktops. I would second your motion of trying another
installation/deployment method.

Ah, yes, I had forgotten about the IEAK method. (It's been quite a while
since I've actually needed to install Internet Exploder 6.) Thanks for
pointing that out.
