Ever since the computers here were upgrade to XP SP2 we've been having
problems with certain hyperlinks to local files in Internet Explorer. When
these hyperlinks are clicked, nothing happens. No loading bar, no Windows
logo movement in the top right, no error messages. Nothing. When I try to
open the hyperlinks in a new window, same thing, nothing happens. If I copy
the hyperlink to the address bar, it works. Which is interesting, because all
the sites that are having problems with this issue, are local sites (on
network drives or hard drives) made by FrontPage 2002. I tried these sites
on several other XP SP 2 computers, ALL had this problem. I tried a Windows
2000 Server computer. It did not having any problems with the hyperlinks
whatsoever. XP SP1 computers don't have the problem either.
I cannot come up with a solution for this problem. I originally contacted
Microsoft about this 6 months ago, and they said it must be "by design" and
offered no help whatsoever.
