Internet Explorer Window

When I open Internet Explorer from my desktop or start menu it usually opens
into a full screen/maximum screen size, but when I click links to things
(from say websites or whatever) it opens into a window size thats smaller and
I have to click the button in the corner to maximize it. Can anyone help me
or tell me what to do to stop this, or if it can be stopped/changed? Thanks.
