Internet Explorer will not start,HELP!!

I am using IE 6.1 and everytime I try to start IE, I get this message......
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience. When I cick on - To see what data this report
contains click here. I get this info- Error Signature
AppName:iexplore.exe AppVer:6.02900.2180 ModName: unknown
ModVer 0.0.0.0 Offset:00148ff6 I also can't use msn
messenger or yahoo messenger. All of this started at the same time,about 6-8
months ago.

To check if a third-party browser extension is causing the problem:

1. Click Start, Run, type Control Inetcpl.cpl.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Browsing, click to clear the Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart) check box.
4. Restart Internet Explorer.

If disabling 3rd party extensions solves the problem, the problem is most
likely caused by a Browser Helper Object . Use ToolbarCop and spot the
malware BHO causing the problem.

Using ToolbarCop to remove the unwanted Toolband, Toolbar Icons and BHO:

BHODaemon - disable unwanted browser helper plugins:

Thanks Ramesh, I went to http://wiki.castlecops.com/Malware_Removal_and_Prevention:_Overview and I am still downloading and running the tools outlined in that article. I hope this works thank you.
