When I do a search and then click links I get a new IE for every link. So
sometimes I end up with 10 or 12 IEs open at the same time. My old XP used
to open the links in the same IE which means there was never more than 1 IE
to close regardless how many links I clicked. There must be some setting
I'm missing, I'm sure. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

With Firefox a right click on a link brings up a menu. Two of the choices
are: open in a window; open in a new tab.

IE\Properties\Advanced and put a checkmark to Reuse windows for launching shortcuts. Hit Apply and back out

Peter: I am unable to find out what you mean by IE/Properties/Advanced; I
simply cannot find anything like "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts".
Are we both talking about IE7? Would you direct me a little more
specifically, please? Thanks in advance.

Run Internet Explorer

Go to the Tools menu in the top right hand corner

Select the last item on this menu, "Internet Options"

The Internet Options panel will appear, with 7 tabs along the top:
General, Security, Privacy, Content, Connections, Programs, Advanced.

Click on the last tab, Advanced. A dialogue called "Settings" will appear,
with check boxes against several options.

Scroll down to the Browsing settings and find the one "Reuse windows for
launching shortcuts". Put a tick in the checkbox.

Press the Apply button

Press the OK button to close the Internet Settings dialogue.

Hope it helps

No worries, but all kudos goes to Peter Foldes - he was first with the
right answer.

Cheers
