Internet Explorer protected mode option

Hey all.

I thought protected mode only worked in Vista?

I've just built a system (AM2 5000+).

XP SP3. And I can tick this option??

So, why can I select it if I dont use Vista? Isnt it usually ghosted in XP?

Is it because I'm using a CPU that supports it or something?
