Internet Explorer Problems

I cannot get Explorer to open. When I click on the ble "e"
icon or try and open it nothing happens. Everything else on
my computer is working fine. I can get out to the web using
Netscape, but nothing happens with Internet Explorer. Why
would it just stop working like this and is there a way to
get it going again? THank you gor your help.

Go to Start, Run, type IEXPLORE.EXE
click OK. If that works, then there is problem
with your IE shortcut, and not IE.

Thank you Ray, just tried it and still nothing happened!?!
This is so frustrating, do you have any other suggestions?

Sorry, not that much more that's easily
communicated via newsgroups. Looks
like somehow IE is messed up. You may
end up having to reinstall it, though it may
also be a result of adware as well.

Things to try, probably long-shots:

First, I assume you have tried rebooting the
computer.

Second, after you run IEXPLORE.EXE,
and nothing happens, press CTRL ALT
DELETE at the same time, this will get
you into the Task Manager, you may see
a Processes tab there, click it and see if
IEXPLORE.EXE is there in the list, and whether there
are multiple IEXPLORE.EXE processes there.
Highlight each IEXPLORE and click End Task, one by
one. Then once there are no more of them there,
try opening IE again.

Third, go to Start, then Control Panel, find
Internet Options. Can you open it? If so, go
to the Advanced tab, and uncheck Enable
third party browser extensions, OK, and then try
opening IE again.

Thank you again - I will try all your suggestions. I am embarassed to tell you this, but I fell into the bulletin board area by accident while looking around the Microsoft site. How do I get back there to post other questions if I have other problems? It seems like such a good tool to go to for help. If I have to reinstall IE , do I fiorst have to uninstall it, and if so will Ilose anything on my computer? My email is (e-mail address removed), please write to me there incase I lose this page again. You really have been very helpful and I appreciate your time. Thank you.
